Proxies for Telegram accounts: why you need them and which to choose
Why automated accounts need their own proxy, how many accounts to put on one address, what kinds of proxies exist and how to check them.
When Telegram accounts work through an automation service without proxies, they all connect from one address — the server's. To Telegram this looks like dozens of different people sitting at one computer. A proxy gives each account its own exit address, and it is one of the basic protections against blocks.
Why AI commenting needs proxies
- Each account has its own address. Accounts are not linked by a shared IP: a restriction on one does not hit the others.
- No server address. Addresses of the data centres where automation services run are well known and raise more suspicion than an ordinary user's address.
- Stability. An account that always connects from the same address looks more natural than one that "jumps" between addresses.
How many accounts per proxy
The most reliable rule is "one proxy — one account". Each account gets its own address, and no link between accounts appears.
If a proxy is shared, the risk grows with the number of accounts on it: a restriction for one account can affect its neighbours on the same address. Don't use a shared proxy for accounts you especially value.
Types of proxies
- Datacenter. Cheap and fast, but their addresses belong to hosting companies, and Telegram can see that.
- Residential. Addresses of home internet providers: they look like an ordinary user and cost more.
- Mobile. Addresses of mobile carriers; one such address is usually shared by many real people, so they are treated most leniently. The most expensive.
The choice is a balance of price and risk. For a small number of valuable accounts it makes sense to pay for residential or mobile proxies; datacenter proxies fit when you have many accounts and none of them is critical.
A common piece of advice is to take a proxy from the same country as the account's phone number: an account with a number from one country that always goes online from another looks less natural.
Protocol: SOCKS5
The best protocol for Telegram is SOCKS5: the connection to Telegram's servers goes through it directly, without extra workarounds. When buying proxies, choose SOCKS5 with a login and password.
How to check a proxy for Telegram
Before connecting an account to a proxy, make sure that:
- the proxy responds — you can actually connect through it;
- Telegram is reachable through the proxy — the address is not blocked for Telegram's servers;
- the speed is acceptable — a slow proxy means dropped connections in the middle of work;
- the country is the one you expect — sellers sometimes hand out addresses from the wrong country.
Check not only when buying: proxies die, and working through a dead proxy means dropped connections and errors at the worst possible moment.
What to do if a proxy dies mid-work
The main rule: don't continue without a proxy. If the proxy stops responding, the account should be stopped rather than switched to a direct connection — otherwise it goes online from the server's address and all the protection becomes pointless. Replace the proxy and only then bring the account back to work.
Proxies in TG Comment
- No proxy, no launch. A direct connection from the server's address is not possible in the service.
- Check on adding. Every proxy is checked live: connection to Telegram's servers, speed and country. Non-working ones are marked red.
- SOCKS5 only. The service accepts only SOCKS5 proxies — the best option for Telegram; other types are not added.
- Easy adding. You can paste a whole list in common formats: `host:port`, `host:port:login:password`, `login:password@host:port` or `socks5://login:password@host:port`. Local and private addresses are rejected.
- Shared proxy limit. No more than 10 accounts can use one address; we recommend "one proxy — one account".
- Proxy watchdog. While an account is connected, the service checks its proxy regularly. If it stops responding, the operation is interrupted immediately, the project's commenting stops and the owner is notified.
